Questions about TEAS Testing? Here are some answers!
Frequently Asked Questions about Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
What is the TEAS Test?
TEAS stands for Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). The test assesses academic skills in the following areas: Reading, Language Usage, Math, and Science.
Why should I take the TEAS Test?
TEAS 7 is required for entry to Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) programs, including the one offered through Marion County School District’s Academy for Careers and Technology (ACT).
What is a passing score?
58.7% as an average from the 4 test scores combined is the minimum score required to submit an application for admission to the LPN program. A passing score alone does not guarantee admission.
What if I passed the test earlier at another test site?
Scores are good for up to two years from the test date. You need to share your official scores with the Marion County LPN program, before filling out an application to their program. Note: Only in-person proctored exams are accepted.
What if I don’t pass?
Applicants who don’t pass must reschedule, repay the $100, and retake the test. A student may not take the test more than 4 times within a 12-month period and should study for 30 days or more in between test sessions. Marion County Adult Education will be glad to work with you as a student, free-of-charge to build your academic skills prior to testing or prior to retesting.
